The Creighton men’s basketball team continues to defy logic. They found a way to mount a comeback with a couple minutes left in regulation, lost their big man Ryan Kalkbrenner, and yet somehow come out with a 72-69 overtime victory over San Diego State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Thursday night.
Trey Alexander, saddled with foul trouble the whole night, entered the game with 4 fouls and keyed the comeback for the Jays. He had with the winning basket off a foul and also forced a turnover on San Diego State’s final possession. Unfortunately during the overtime period however, it appears Ryan Kalkbrenner suffered a knee injury and shortens the bench even more against #1 Kansas on Saturday afternoon.
Jacob Padilla joins Matt DeMarinis to react from the game, break it down, and see how the Jays can try to keep things going in the NCAA Tournament. Take a listen to the Bluejay Beat.
