Bluejay Beat: Creighton Falls 80-73 Against #17 Xavier

Creighton returned to the court on Saturday to take on Xavier. The Bluejays turnovers and a scoring drought came back to bite them in the second half as they fall on the road at the Cintas Center.  The Bluejays had the opportunity to upset the 17th ranked team in the nation despite 21 turnovers, but came up short in an 80-73 defeat against the Musketeers.

Ryan Nembhard had 18 points, but took 21 shots for the Bluejays.  Alex O’Connell had a career high 22 points.   The Bluejays gave up the lead midway through the second half and couldn’t get over the hump to come back at the end like they have been able to do in other games this season.

Down the stretch, Xavier made plays the Bluejays could not and dominated the points in the paint.   A 19-4 run was the difference.

Matt DeMarinis got together with Ravi Lulla and Jacob Padilla to talk about the game, answer your questions, and look forward to a potential homestand next week.  Take a listen to the Bluejay Beat postgame podcast.
