White and Blue Review has confirmed the commitment of Olathe East and 16U KC Run GMC Ezra Talbert. Talbert follows fellow KC Run GMC teammate Nick Norton in committing early to Coach McDermott and Creighton after a visit for the team camp. Talbert makes four verbal commits in as many days for the Jays.
Talbert is an unbelievable athlete, who attacks the rim with force. Despite his power game, his most impressive quality is his pull up jumper. Talbert has excellent range and has the maturity to penetrate to a spot, pull up and hit a jumper. At 6’7” he can get his shot off on any of these defenders. Many scouts and high school coaches in the Kansas-Missouri are have compared him to an Avery Dingman or Blake Ahern type of player.
On the defensive end, Talbert is a solid rebounder who uses his length to disrupt passing lanes when guarding smaller players on the wing. Like many high school juniors to be, Talbert will need to hit the weight room to develop his body for the college game.
Overall, like Norton, Talbert is a quality individual who excels off the court. He is seen as a leader on both his high school and AAU team. He is a gym rat who is continually seeking ways to improve his game.
