WBR recently caught up with Creighton men’s basketball recruit Kevin Puryear (Blue Springs (MO) South H.S.; KC Run GMC AAU) to talk about the latest in his recruitment. The 6-foot-7 sophomore is averaging nearly 14 points and 8 rebounds a game for one of the best teams in Missouri’s Class 5.
WBR: Talk to us a little bit about your goals for this season?
KP: Our goal is to win state, but we have to get out of districts first.
WBR: At 6-foot-7, the coaches have you playing center. What other positions can you play?
KP: I can play all the positions, but my skill set best suits playing the 4.
WBR: What position do you see yourself playing at the D1 level?
KP: I see myself as a 3 or 4, but I think I my skills best suit the 4.
WBR: Other than Creighton, what other schools are recruiting you hard?
KP: Kansas State, Missouri, Oklahoma, Marquette, Oklahoma State, Missouri State, Arkansas
WBR: What are you looking for in a school?
KP: A good coaching staff, family-oriented teams, the style of play.
WBR: What are some of the things that attract you most to Creighton?
KP: I really like the relationship I have with coach [Darian] DeVries and coach Mac [Greg McDermott].
