Creighton Women’s Soccer Preview 2011: The Midfield

This is the second of three installments of WBR’s preview of the 2011 Creighton Bluejays women’s soccer team. The Bluejays being their regular season tonight at South Dakota State.

Bruce Erickson’s veteran Creighton Bluejays women’s soccer team has experienced seniors anchoring every position on the pitch. The midfield is no exception, where seniors Erin Gunther, Beth Fyles, and Rachelle Holt return from the 2010 campaign.

Gunther earned honorable mention in the Missouri Valley Conference last year, playing as a versatile member of both the defense and the attack. She finished with eight goals.

Fyles, from Calgary, scored one goal in 2010 but it was a big one, as it came in the MVC Tournament Championship match. She earned honorable mention All-MVC recognition two seasons ago as a sophomore.
