Jasmin Corbin knows what it is like to be a freshman for Jim Flanery. Last year, Corbin came off the bench in 28 games and came on strong toward the end of the season; she scored points in the final four games.

Heading into her sophomore season, and with five freshmen pushing her for playing time, Corbin knows that she has to translate her experience to being a leader and making plays. “It’s different having a whole half of a team that is new. There are a lot of high expectations because of our schedule strength. It is just an exciting time,” she said.

Part of that leadership means helping the freshmen. Corbin is one of those players who really helps them get acclimated to the program. “I help get them through practice. If their head gets down I try to get it back up. I was in that position at one time and it is not exactly fun.”

Corbin likes her game outside; 9 of her 14 field goals last season were 3-pointers, including shooting 3-7 from long range in the first two games of the year. However this season, there are more expectations on Corbin and her overall game.

Corbin is another of Flan’s local recruits, as she played high school ball at Millard West. She got to play in front of friends and family Wednesday night in Creighton’s lone exhibition game, scoring 3 points, grabbing 3 rebounds, and dishing 2 assists against Northwest Missouri State.
