We’re nearing the one-year anniversary of Booker Woodfox’s buzzer beater to beat all buzzer beaters.

The Bluejays opened a 22-point lead against Wichita State in the quarterfinals of the 2009 MVC tournament, and a P’Allen Stinnett breakaway dunk gave Creighton a 20-point cushion with 13 minutes to play. But as the Jays slowed things down and tried to run out the clock, the Shockers battled back … all the way back.

Toure’ Murry’s 3-pointer with 7 seconds left gave Wichita State its first lead since early in the first half. After a layup attempt was knocked out of bounds, the Bluejays ran a play for the MVC Player of the Year. Woodfox delivered, ringing the remaining 1.9 seconds for all it was worth. Creighton prevailed 63-62.
