It is homecoming weekend at Creighton. The seventh-ranked men’s soccer team will host Saint Louis Saturday night (7:00 p.m., Morrison Stadium). Make sure you stop by the Getting Blue BBQ on your way to the match (details here). And check out what men’s soccer head coach Elmar Bolowich had to say about last weekend’s matches and this weekend’s showdown with the Billikens.
WBR: Creighton had yet another packed weekend of soccer. You played your third weekend of Friday-Sunday matches. Can you talk a bit about the result against Old Dominion?
EB: There was nothing surprising about the game. We knew that Old Dominion was a talented team and was good up top. We tried to come out and play our game and when we fell behind in the last 20 minutes, I thought we really left it all on the field. The guys really gave it everything on Friday. We made some errors, and Old Dominion was able to capitalize on them.
WBR: You had to then turn around and play tough opponent in William & Mary. Anything stand out in that one?
EB: It was hard on the guys to have another weekend of back-to-back games, and I think it showed both physically and mentally on Sunday. They came out a bit sluggish, but were able to show a lot of drive when they came back from a 0-1 deficit. There were a number of guys that I had to play both Friday and Sunday, and they received two days off this week.
WBR: After another grueling weekend, how is everyone recovering?
EB: With the exception of Vincent (Keller), we are good to go. Vincent will likely be out for two weeks with a hamstring pull.
WBR: You will face Saint Louis on Saturday during homecoming week. What should the fans look for in that match up?
EB: They remind me of the Old Dominion team, but not as much experience; they are young. They have some good size and they have three to four really good players up top that we will need to watch.
