Sunday afternoon, probably the biggest game of the Sokol Arena’s short history will occur with the visit from Oklahoma to take on the Bluejays in Women’s basketball.
Last season the Women’s team went to Norman and kept in the game until the last 7 minutes and ended up suffering a 20 point defeat to a then 6th ranked Oklahoma team that eventually went to the final four. Chevelle Herring and Megan Neuvirth played all 40 minutes of the game to lead the Bluejays.
This season is a little different. This time, the Sooners come to Omaha to play at the new Sokol Arena and are currently ranked 15th in the nation. The Bluejay Women are playing their third straight Big 12 team and third straight ranked team. It is a great opportunity to see what kind of environment the fans can create to possibly pull off an upset. Unfortunately, there may not be many students there due to the holiday break which is why it is important to get basketball fans to Sokol Arena to create a big environment.
However, if you are not from the area or cannot make it down to the Ryan Center for the game, don’t fret. Join White and Blue Review Sunday afternoon around 2PM as we conduct a live blog of the event, so you can feel the energy of the arena as the Bluejay women go for the upset. Either follow us live, or come back to this page and read the blog in its entirety and catch up.
Then come back later for photos from the game and postgame coverage.
