Looking Ahead: #5 Creighton vs. Fordham

Creighton’s second Jesuit showdown of the season takes place under the Friday night lights, as the Jays welcome mighty Fordham to Omaha, “the New York City of the Plains.” Fordham is a stronger opponent than their records from past years might indicate, and are easily the best A-10 team from a Jesuit university in the Bronx. Junior Tim Richardson, who has experience with the New Zealand national team, has a real nose for the goal and is easily one of the best players in the Atlantic 10. The Creighton back line will have their hands, no, feet full with this explosive midfielder.

Fordham will also count on junior goalkeeper Ryan Meara to provide experience and leadership from between the pipes. Interestingly, CU goalkeeper Brian Holt competed this summer in the same semi-professional league as Meara, where they were numbers three and four, respectively, in GAA. Many critics cannot speak highly enough of Meara, who came in at #10 on the same “Top Pro Prospects” list that ranked our very own Ethan Finlay #1. The Jays should have no problem putting this one away, but the Rams are certainly no slouches.

The Rams head into this game undefeated and riding momentum from their recent wins over Lehigh and Hartford. After last weekend’s outstanding turnout at Morrison (where the Jays slayed the Drexel Dragons, 3-0, in front of over 5,000 fans), tonight is shaping up to be another big-time atmosphere. If you don’t yet have tickets for tonight’s game, hurry up and buy a few, if you can af-Fordham.
