After the past two performances at Georgetown and at home last Friday against Butler, along with a reeling St. John’s team coming in on Wednesday night, it looked liked a great opportunity for the Creighton men’s basketball team to take advantage and move up the Big East standings. Unfortunately, things came to a screeching halt with an 83-67 loss to the Red Storm on $1 beer night.
Both teams were sloppy to start the game with open shots not going down as expected. However, St. John’s Shamorie Ponds got hot late in the first half, and all of a sudden, St. John’s was up 10 heading into halftime.
The second half saw a continued shooting struggle by the Bluejays and St. John’s had pretty much everything going in the hoop, as they went 21-of-26 from inside the arc and hit long three pointers to pull away from the Jays.
