Today in Bluejay History (10/22)

October 22, 2005 — The Bluejays follow a 6-0 romp over Georgetown with a 1-0 loss at Western Kentucky.

Entering the match 8-2-3, the #15 Creighton men’s soccer team gave up a goal in the 72nd minute and couldn’t tally a goal of its own. The loss snapped the Bluejays’ four-game winning streak, and marked the start of the team’s only losing streak of the 2005 season.

The Jays would lose their next match, 3-2 versus Drake in Des Moines, but then rattle off seven straight wins — including a 2-0 victory over #17 Bradley in the MVC Tournament championship match. That streak of seven would end in early December with Creighton needing just one more win to reach the College Cup Final Four. The Bluejays were beaten by Clemson 1-0 in South Carolina in the quarterfinals.
