Today in Bluejay History (11/25)

November 25, 1998 — Creighton beats Iowa at Carver-Hawkeye Arena 75-73.

Three games into a season that would find Creighton back in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since the days of the Dynamic Duo, Rodney Buford scored 24 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, and dished 7 assists as the Bluejays beat the Hawkeyes.

Trailing by 7 at halftime, Creighton came back to defeat Iowa despite shooting 59% from the free throw line and turning the basketball over to Iowa 22 times. That’s because the Bluejays forced 25 Hawkeye turnovers, 13 of which coming off Creighton steals — Ryan Sears’ 5 steals led the way for the Jays.
