Today in Bluejay History (11/3)

November 3, 2002 — The Creighton men’s soccer team drops a 2-1 match to #4 SMU in Omaha.

The Bluejays held a 1-0 lead with 35 minutes remaining, but the Mustangs rallied for two unanswered goals and won the Valley regular season championship for the third consecutive year.

It was Creighton’s first home loss of the season, but the Bluejays would make up for it in the first round of the MVC Tournament. Hosting Eastern Illinois, six different Bluejays recorded a goal en route to a 6-0 blanking of the Panthers.

Bob Warming’s team would travel to St. Louis the next weekend and defeat Missouri State and Bradley to take the MVC Tournament title and secure another trip to the NCAA Tournament.
