Today in Bluejay History (1/23)

January 23, 1992 — Creighton’s women’s basketball program wins its 250th game on the road against Utah.

The Bluejays, coached by Bruce Rassmussen, posted a 79-70 road win against the Utes, a conference foe of the Jays at the time: the 1991-1992 season would be Creighton’s last in the Western Athletic Conference.

Rassmussen and the Bluejays left the WAC in style, posting a 13-1 record en route to a league championship and a trip to the NCAA Tournament. The Bluejays beat Long Beach State in the first round of the Big Dance, before losing by one point to Stephen F. Austin in the second round.

Creighton first fielded a women’s basketball team in 1973, with the school’s first win coming against Peru State.
