Today in Bluejay History (1/6)

January 6, 1962 — Paul Silas grabs 35 rebounds against Wabash in a 96-62 win.

Silas’ 35 rebounds marked the fourth greatest single-game rebounding performance in Creighton history.

Silas would lead the 1961-1962 Bluejays to the NCAA Tournament, where they would go 2-1. In the first round against Memphis State, Silas would post 27 points and 24 rebounds in a 87-83 CU win. In the next game, Silas would pick up two early fouls and grab just a career-low 7 boards in Creighton’s 20-point loss to Cincinnati. He and the Jays would bounce back in the consolation round, though, beating Texas Tech 63-61.
