February 17, 1973 — Creighton upsets #7 Houston 78-77.

Gene Harmon hits a 30-foot shot as time expires to defeat the Cougars, Creighton’s first ranked victim in nearly one full season. The Bluejays beat #17 Jacksonville in February 1972 before losing to #2 Marquette, #8 South Carolina, #5 Long Beach State, and #15 Jacksonville.

Harmon entered the 2009-2010 season as the 14th leading scorer in Creighton history, with 1,369 points. He scored the 4th most points in CU’s NCAA Tournament history, all in one tournament (1974). He scored 22 points in a tournament win against Texas, 16 points in a 1-point loss to Kansas, and 22 points in a 4-point loss to Louisville.
