February 22, 2006 — Guard Johnny Mathies collects 7 steals, one of the top single-game marks in Creighton hoops history.

Mathies swiped 7 steals in a 67-62 Senior Night win against Indiana State. He added 18 points to pace the Bluejays to the win.

Mathies’ 7 steals were two off the all-time record of 9 in one game, set by Michael Johnson against St. Joe’s in 1981. Mathies left CU 6th on the school’s all-time steals list for a career (a list that started during the 1979-1980 season).
