Today in Bluejay History (3/11)

March 11, 2007 — Two Bluejays set MVC Tournament records during one of the most heartbreaking losses in recent Creighton women’s basketball history.

Sam Schuett tied Kristen Hafer and Becky Flynn by grabbing 12 rebounds in one MVC Tournament game, and Ally Thrall set game (45), tournament (123), and career (297) marks for minutes played in the MVC Tournament.

These efforts were not enough to beat Drake in the championship game of the tournament, however.

Trailing by 5 with less than a minute to play in the second half, after leading by 6 at halftime, Chevelle Herring scored a bucket and then converted a 3-point play to tie the game at 60. After a missed opportunity at the end of regulation the game headed to overtime, where Drake won on a 3-pointer with less than a minute to play.
