Today in Bluejay History (4/7)

April 7, 2001 — Creighton smashes a school-record 7 home runs in one game.

The Bluejays got 2 home runs each from Chris Hinrichs and Sean Peickert and blasted 7 total during a 15-12 win against Southern Illinois. The 7 home runs remains a single-game record for the Creighton baseball program.

But that was just the first game of what would be an offensively entertaining doubleheader. In the second game the Bluejays posted a 7-run 5th inning and destroyed the Salukis 14-4. All told, the Jays scored 29 runs on 31 hits while sweeping the twin bill against SIU.
