Today in Bluejay History (4/8)

April 8, 1989 — Creighton collects 17 hits against New Mexico State in a win, a record offensive display in the softball program’s history.

To that point, the 17 hits were the highest single-game total in Creighton history. Since 1989 the Bluejays have collected 17 or more hits in one game 9 times. That includes a tremendous doubleheader effort in 2002, when the Bluejays set the all-time single-game hits mark in game 1 against Drake (22 hits) and then knocked out another 17 hits in game 2.
