August 15, 2005 — The Omaha World-Herald reports that Creighton senior-to-be Zach Daeges wins the Triple Crown during his summer season in the Northwoods League.

Daeges won the batting title with an average of .366, led the league with 13 home runs, and tied for the league lead with 48 runs batted in. On-base and slugging percentages of .500 and .672, respectively, also led the Northwoods.

Daeges would follow his successful summer with a stellar senior season for Ed Servais and the Bluejays. He led the Jays in hitting (.350), home runs (13), and RBIs (49) while slugging .650 and getting on base at a .496 clip (also leading the team in both categories).

He has risen through the Boston Red Sox organization to the AAA level this summer, and in four minor league seasons he has a career batting average of .311..
