Today in Bluejay History (8/18)

August 18, 2007 — The Creighton men’s soccer team forges a tie in a meaningless game and loses a meaningful member of the program, all in the span of 90 minutes.

The Bluejays hosted Ohio State for an exhibition match, one that saw both teams score two goals. The final one came off the foot of redshirt freshman Jeremy Wittig, hit the cross bar, and hit the back of the net with about 3 minutes left, forcing the draw.

But the big news of the evening was the knee injury suffered by CU star Byron Dacy. It would turn out that the junior tore his anterior cruciate ligament. And while he still managed to play in two regular season games, he underwent surgery to repair the tear in October 2007.

By having the surgery when he did, Dacy received a medical redshirt. And with that extra year of eligibility, the senior will take to the pitch this weekend for his final season at CU.
