August 31, 1996 — Creighton’s three main fall sports experience a perfect day.
On the pitch, both Creighton soccer teams put together impressive performances against BCS schools. The men’s side, ranked #16 and playing its season opener, blanks Stanford 4-0. The women’s team hosts the Sooners from Oklahoma, and also administers a 4-0 shutout.
Hosting the Creighton First Serve Festival, the Bluejays volleyball team sweeps Saturday action against Wisconsin-Green Bay and UMKC without losing a set. After dropping the first contest of the weekend against Saint Louis University, the Jays string together three straight wins to start the 1996 season 3-1.
