Today in Bluejay History (9/2)

September 2, 2007 — After posting close wins of 5 and 8 points in their first two exhibition games in Canada, Dana Altman’s Creighton Bluejays blow out Lethbridge and Saskatchewan during the Jays’ second day of action on their preseason trip north.

Creighton’s afternoon matchup against Lethbridge, a 88-49 pasting, featured Kenny Lawson Jr. posting a double-double (12 points, 10 rebounds) in just 12 minutes of play. Every Bluejay who made the trip to Canada scored in the game, and only Dane Watts – a veteran assured of starting every game during the upcoming 2007-2008 season – played fewer than 10 minutes.

In the evening game, a 92-66 beatdown against Saskatchenwan, Lawson continued his play from the previous game. The redshirt freshman from California posted another double-double (14 points, 10 rebounds). He was one of five Bluejays to post double figure points: Dane Watts led the way with 15 points, followed by Lawson (14), Nick Bahe and Booker Woodfox (13), and freshman P’Allen Stinnett (12).
