Today in the Valley: December 7, 2009

Western Illinois (7-1) @ Bradley (4-2)

Carver Arena

Peoria, Ill. 7:05 CT

After trailing Northern Illinois 20-19 at halftime, the Braves decided to turn up the heat a bit and take out Northern Illinois 63-49.  Lead by Andrew Warren’s 16 points, 13 of those scored after halftime, the Braves showed some determination and toughness as they were able to overwhelm Northern Illinois in the final 20 minutes of play.

Assisting Warren nicely in the effort, was Taylor Brow, who similar to Warren saved his best for last, scoring 11 of his 15 points in the second half.  The win moved the Braves to 4-2 on the young season and will look to improve that record when they host Western Carolina tonight at Carver Arena.

After Western Carolina was embarrassed by Texas in the CBE Classic 73-41, they have been on a bit of a tear, winning their last six games.  Although the majority of those games were against lesser opponents, they will have some great confidence going into tonight’s game.  Will it be enough; no.  Braves should win big in this one.
