Thursday (August 15)

Creighton Men’s Soccer Blue-White Scrimmage (Exhibition)

  • 6:00 p.m. Morrison Stadium [tix]

Everyone knows that the new Big East came to be due to the schools’ basketball programs. But perhaps no team on Creighton’s campus will benefit more from the switch in conference affiliation than Elmar Bolowich’s Bluejays.

Still the school’s greatest hope for a modern day national championship, the Creighton soccer team once again starts a season with high expectations. Preseason polls have the Jays #6 and #4 nationally. In the NSCAA poll, the Big East places three teams in the top 12. In the College Soccer News poll, the conference has three teams in the top eight.

Still, the Jays aren’t the media’s choice to win the league championship in the school’s inaugural year in the Big East. That would be Georgetown, last year’s national runner-up (Creighton was also in the College Cup in 2012). The preseason Big East poll lists CU second, a mere 4 points behind the Hoyas.

Saturday (August 17)

Creighton Women’s Soccer @ North Dakota State Bison (Exhibition)

  • 1:00 p.m. Rosemount, Minnesota

The Jay, coming off an exhibition match against Arkansas, wrap up the preseason with a roadie against NDSU. The Jays are 3-2-1 all-time against the Bison. The draw occurred the last time the two programs met, in September 2010.

Sunday (August 18)

Creighton Men’s Soccer vs. Notre Dame Fighting Irish (Exhibition)

  • 1:00 p.m. Morrison Stadium [tix]

The Bluejays will host nationally ranked Notre Dame for just the second time in program history. The Irish have a 1-0-2 series advantage all time, including a draw the last time ND made it to Omaha. That’s back when the Jays played at Tranquility Park. The last meeting between the two programs ended in a 4-1 blowout win for Notre Dame in South Bend.
