Vanderbilt scored five times in the fifth to break open CWS Game 8 on Wednesday, and sent sixth-seeded Mississippi State to an elimination game with a 6-3 win. Left fielder Stephen Scott hit two homeruns — a solo shot in the second, and a three-run shot as part of the aforementioned five-run fifth inning. Then freshman fireballer Kumar Rocker, coming off his no-hitter in the super regionals, did the rest with six solid innings of work.
