Today in Bluejay History (11/22)

November 22, 1975 — Creighton’s second season under coach Tom Apke begins with the Bluejays beating Drake 84-63.

More than 6,500 fans showed up at the Civic to watch what Apke would do for an encore after leading the Bluejays to the NCAA Tournament in his first season as head coach.

It also marked the first game at Creighton for John C. Johnson, a freshman from Omaha Central who would leave the Hilltop as one of the school’s most potent scorers. Entering the 2009-2010 season, Johnson sits 11th all time in scoring at Creighton (1,526 points).
