May 8, 2004 — Creighton sweeps a doubleheader against nationally ranked Wichita State.

After winning the first game of the weekend Valley series, the Bluejays defeated the #12 Shockers 2-1 in game one and 8-2 in game two to take a 3-0 series lead. The doubleheader sweep marked the fifth and sixth consecutive wins for Creighton against Wichita State.

Wichita State would salvage a game in the series thanks to a superb outing by ace (and current New York Mets starting pitcher) Mike Pelfrey. He tossed a complete game, allowing just 2 runs and striking out 10 Bluejays. Still, the Jays finished 2004 winning three of four games against the Shockers for the second consecutive season.
