Volleyball: “Pink Out” Saturday Night

When the Creighton Bluejays volleyball team takes the court Saturday evening against Indiana State, they’ll be sporting pink jerseys. And they want you to do the same — it is time to take part in Creighton’s third annual Breast Cancer Awareness Night.

Creighton will celebrate “Digging for the Cure” Saturday night to recognize breast cancer survivors and will be attempting to raise funds for the Nebraska Susan G. Komen Foundation. As a part of this event, the Bluejays are encouraging all fans to wear pink and the players themselves will be wearing specially designed pink uniforms for the night (similar to those featured in the photo above, from last year’s event).

From the Creighton Volleyball media guide:

Last year, more than $230,000 was raised as more than 100 schools nationwide designated one home volleyball match in October, which is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, or November, as part of the “Digging for the Cure” campaign. Individual sponsors pledge money per dig earned by their team in the match, or can make a flat donation to the cause. The money raised by each team goes directly to the Komen Foundation’s local affiliate in their community. There will be drawings throughout the night for door prizes for those who choose to make a donation.

Will you be wearing your pink Saturday night? Tickets are still available for the match, and it would be pretty interesting to fill up Sokol Arena with some pink instead of the standard white and blue. Come out Saturday night and support breast cancer research while rooting for Creighton’s volleyball team!
