Today in Bluejay History (12/18)

December 18, 1991 — Creighton records a single game record in steals … but loses!

One month into Rick Johnson’s first season as head coach of the Creighton basketball program, the Bluejays traveled to Ohio to play Cleveland State. Led by Latrell Wrightsell’s 6 steals (the fourth highest single-game total in CU hoops history), the Bluejays swiped 18 steals, the highest single game total in school history. Still, Creighton lost 76-68.

Creighton has recorded 18 steals in a game three other times in school history; all in winning efforts. The most recent 18-steal game came last season against Arkansas-Pine Bluff, when Cavel Witter had 4 swipes and Antoine Young, Josh Dotzler, and P’Allen Stinnett each added 3 steals for the Bluejays.
